Platinum Engagement Rings

The most prestigious and rare metal, is also the strongest. It is the most impervious to hard knocks and scratches. For prongs, it is is unbeatable. Platinum holds a white diamond securely and sets off the color perfectly.

Rings with yellow gold shanks frequently have platinum collet setting for practical and aesthetic reasons.

Gold Engagement Rings

Gold comes in several colours, including yellow, white, and pink. Yellow has been used in diamond engagement rings for hundreds of years. The sunshine metal makes a warm design. When yellow gold is used on prongs or a collet setting it can cast a very faint yellow light over a white diamond.

To match the hue of pink and yellow diamonds, pink and yellow gold are used on the prongs and collet, if not on the entire ring. White gold looks a lot like platinum, but it is a little less expensive and not quite as strong.
